To reduce the number of kittens entering the shelter, Broward County Animal Care is offering free “Get Tipped” spay/neuter services in February for all feral and free-roaming community cats residing in Broward County. The sterilization effort is being launched right before the start of Kitten Season - the high breeding time for cats - to help decrease the number of kittens born during this time. Colony caregivers, and those that feed neighborhood cats, are encouraged to take advantage of the program by trapping intact/unsterilized cats in their area and bringing them to Broward County Animal Care, 2400 SW 42nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, 33312. The cats will be spayed/neutered; receive FVRCP/rabies vaccinations; and receive an ear-tip, which identifies the cat as sterilized. The program is only for feral/neighborhood cats, not owned pets.
Get Tipped services will only be offered on the following dates:
- Tuesday, February 5
- Thursday, February 7
- Tuesday, February 12
- Wednesday, February 13
- Tuesday, February 19
- Wednesday, February 20
- Tuesday, February 26
- Wednesday, February 27
No appointment is necessary. Only 30 cats will be accepted each day on a first-come, first-served basis. Cats must be in a trap and dropped off at Animal Care between 7 and 8AM.The Get Tipped program is open to all Broward County residents.
