Under the direction of the Town Manager, Deputy Town Manager Gerald "Tony" Bryan professionally manages the day-to-day operations of the Town's Finance Department. He oversees Town purchases to ensure that its official purchasing policies are followed and is also responsible for preparing the Town’s annual operating and capital improvement budgets.
The Finance Department invests cash and maintains internal accounting controls to ensure the reliability of all Town financial records. The Finance Director is also the liaison to the Audit Committee, the Volunteer Fire Department Pension Board and the external auditor. Unlike many other cities, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea has no debt. It also has the third lowest tax rate among Broward County's 31 municipalities, and the lowest residential Fire Assessment fee.
